Welcome to Kansas!
Since Kansas doesn’t have an official dessert, we have decided to make Dirt Pudding to celebrate the farming and ranching that the state is known for.
The fertile farmland is considered its best natural resource.
The state name comes from the Kansa Native American tribe, which translates to “people of the south wind”.
The most abundant crop is wheat – more of it is produced here than any other state in the US.
Dirt cake (or dirt pudding as it is often called) is a pudding type filling over an oreo crust.
Since it is a no-bake dessert, it is perfect for summer. Enjoy!

Dirt Cake

Ingredients:

15 oz Oreos (standard size package)
1/2 C Butter, at room temperature
8 oz Cream Cheese, at room temperature
1 t Vanilla
1/2 C Heavy Cream
6.8 oz Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix (2 small boxes)
3 C Milk
Optional: Gummy Worms

Directions:
In a medium bowl, combine the pudding mix and the milk.
Whisk to combine and set aside for 5 minutes while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
Crush oreo cookies in a plastic bag with a rolling pin or in the food processor.
Set aside 1/4 c of the cookie crumbs for a topping.
Press the remainder of the cookie crumbs into a pie pan.
Cream together butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla and mix to combine.
In a separate bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Fold the pudding into the whipped cream.
Combine this mixture gently with the butter/cream cheese mixture.
Spread the final mixture over the cookie crumb crust.
Sprinkle reserved cookie crumbs on top. Decorate with gummy worms if desired.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
